A year after Hurricane Irma wrecked communities throughout Florida in 2017, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity created the Rebuild Florida program to assist Florida residents who still suffered from significant damage to their homes. Sachs Media was enlisted to spearhead strategic communications and media outreach to raise awareness of the program and drive people to apply for aid.
This outreach faced a significant challenge, as many affected Floridians had been displaced and were hard to reach. We created a comprehensive, targeted public education and outreach campaign utilizing social and digital media, news conferences, news releases, media interviews, and targeted outreach to local government, community message boards, and calendars to help inform the community.
The targeted six-month campaign generated widespread awareness of the program and encouraged eligible Floridians to register, while creating a network of stakeholders to expand engagement and reach.
