Goodwill Finalist for National Service Award

Goodwill Industries- Big Bend, Inc. announced today that it has been named a finalist for the National Service Impact Award given by The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).

Through this award, CNCS recognizes outstanding impact in communities accomplished through service and volunteering. The nomination is specifically for the AmeriCorps Goodwill Goodworks! program which offers opportunities for individuals to serve the local community by providing training, employment services and resource connections.

The final award winner will be chosen based on the results of an online public vote. Goodwill is seeking the support of the Big Bend community by asking local residents to cast their vote for the program by clicking here. Voting is now open and will continue through August 14th.

About the AmeriCorps Goodwill Goodworks Program

The AmeriCorps Goodwill Goodworks! was launched 5 years ago to provide assistance to Goodwill Industries- Big Bend Inc. Members work in 11 Career Training Centers and 3 satellite agencies across the region. In 2012, the 36 members serving in the AmeriCorps Goodwill Goodworks! program provided over 18,000 hours of service, assisted 2,016 people with employment services and recruited an additional 224 volunteers resulting in 3,406 hours of service.
