Partner Drew Piers Awarded Highest Honor for FSU Young Alumni

Sachs Media Partner and Managing Director Drew Piers has been awarded one of only five Reubin O’D. Askew Young Alumni Awards this year, the highest honor bestowed to young alumni by the Florida State University Alumni Association.

“I’m humbled and incredibly honored to be recognized by my alma mater, and thrilled to receive this recognition alongside such talented other young alumni,” said Piers. “FSU has been such a launchpad for my life and career and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to give back to the university that has given me so much.”

Piers is a double FSU alum, earning a bachelor’s in Public Relations and Political Science in 2014 and a master’s in Applied American Politics and Policy in 2018. After serving in the Executive Office of the Governor, Piers joined Sachs Media in 2012 and now serves as a partner and the managing director for the firm. Piers is the youngest partner in the firm’s history and has led multiple successful legislative and constitutional issue-based campaigns across Florida and the country.

In addition to his work as an award-winning communications strategist, Piers also gives back to the Tallahassee community and beyond. He has held leadership positions with multiple philanthropic organizations, including Equity Tallahassee Leon, the Legal Aid Foundation of Tallahassee, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend, and the Capital Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association. He is also a member of Leadership Tallahassee Class 36.

Beyond his work and charitable activities, Piers serves as a mentor to FSU students. He is an adjunct professor teaching political communications to FSU master’s students and is committed to the growth of students through mentoring and supporting student organizations.

The Reubin O’D. Askew Young Alumni Award was named for legendary former Florida Governor Reubin Askew. The award honors Askew’s contributions to our state, nation, and university, recognizing young alumni for their outstanding contributions.

“Governor Askew set the public service bar to the ultimate level – and our talented and dedicated Drew Piers reflects that same and highest caliber of character in all that he does,” said Sachs Media CEO and founder Ron Sachs, who served as deputy press secretary under Governor Askew.
